Most radiators we sell are for collision repairs. But radiators can need to be replaced after prolonged use—as the fins can gradually become damaged from road debris, and the aluminium body/connections can leak from corrosion.
Radiators are a part of the engine’s cooling system. They act as a heat exchanger—taking the hot coolant coming from the engine, and use airflow to dissipate the heat from the coolant—thus reducing it’s temperature. The airflow is primarily created by the car’s movement, and assisted by one or more electric cooling fans.
Each model generation will have multiple types of radiator—to account for different engine types. And some setups will utilise dual radiators—with one sitting behind the other.
The best way to identify the correct radiator for your car, is to start by sighting it: is there one or two—and which one do you need? Once you have established that, we recommend matching the BMW part number by decoding your VIN. This can be done by decoding your vehicle’s VIN in a BMW EPC (electronic part catalogue.)
If you don’t have access to an EPC, provide our team with your vehicle’s 17-digit VIN—and we’ll check our stock for a compatible match.
There is some interchangeability between models with similar engine types.
